Introduction to Wirksworth
This fascinating and ancient town has a wide variety of intriguing courtyards and gardens that are often hidden from view but offer glimpses of delight as you wander around the streets and pathways.

This weekend will be our eighth year, and  follows the great successes of Open Garden's every year since 2009. It gives a unique opportunity for visitors to look behind the walls and enjoy our private spaces where every size and type of garden and courtyard space is to be found in the town.

As with each year, we have an excitng numer of new gardens open to give a new perspective of the town.

Visitors follow a trail around 26 gardens in the town centre of Wirksworth, with  delicious home made cakes and teas en route. Wirksworth is situated three miles from Matlock, 9 miles from Ashbourne and 15 miles from Derby (see 'Getting Around').

Other Attractions

By popular demand, on Sunday afternoon there will be the return of the Wirksworth Community Orchestra. After the great success of 2015, the Orchestra will be playing a collection of "family favorites", light summer classics fun for young and old alike.

The performance will be at 4.15 in The Courtyard next to St Marys Church - bring chairs  and blankets, and a picnic and share in the fun of the afternoon.
